DAAD visits to Institutions in Kandy

On 26 and 27 August 2025, the DAAD participated in the International Week of the University of Peradeniya. Through the information stall on 26 Aug, students got a chance to interact with the DAAD and get to know about the higher studies, research and scholarship opportunities in Germany. In the formal event on 27 Aug, H.E. Isomata Akio, Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka attended as the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote speech. DAAD Sri Lanka is happy to have done a session on study, research and scholarship opportunities in Germany for the audience which comprised of Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Institutions, esteemed academics and students. Other institutions such as Japan International Coorperation Agency (JICA), US – Sri Lanka Fullbright Commission, Alliance Française and Campus France were also present during the event.
The DAAD would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Sanjeewa Malaviaracchci, Director, and the staff of the International Relations of University of Peradeniya for the invitation and for the warm hospitality. A special thanks also goes out to Dr. Priyadarshani Hapuarachchi and students of the Department of Sociology of University of Peradeniya for the support extended to the DAAD.

On 28 August, DAAD Sri Lanka paid a visit to the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS) and conducted a successful information session on higher studies, research and scholarships in Germany. A special thank you goes out to Prof. Suresh Benjamin, Alexander von Humboldt Fellow, and also the Young Scientists’ Association of NIFS for coordinating and organising the event.
DAAD Sri Lanka will continue to foster relations with higher education and research institutions in Sri Lanka.
