The third edition of the annual “Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies” (DIES) workshop organised by DAAD in collaboration with the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) was held online on 19th and 20th November 2020.

The workshop titled Comprehensive Internationalisation- Developing internationalisation strategies for academic institutions of South Asia aimed to provide a learning and discussion platform to the representatives of international offices of different institutions.
The online meet was lined up with presentations, talks and group discussions on best ways to develop and implement internationalisation strategies. It fostered exchange of ideas and peer-to-peer learning on key aspects such as student mobility, global partnerships, and internationalisation at home through online breakout sessions. These breakout sessions were moderated by German experts from Leibniz University of Hannover, Friedrich-Schiller-University of Jena and the University of Bonn. The attendees further got insights into the New Education Policy (NEP) as the Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities shed light on the internationalisation measures that the recently introduced policy stresses upon.

The event was attended by 40 participants representing 30 academic institutions, not just from India but also from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Owing to the recent developments with respect to the NEP in India and the challenges posed by the Coronavirus pandemic, the event was considered relevant and timely by the attendees.
